The DJI Mic 3 Transmitter, released in late 2025, represents a significant leap in compact audio technology. While the previous generation was already a creator favorite, the Mic 3 focuses on extreme portability, professional-grade synchronization, and expanded ecosystem connectivity.
The most striking change is the size. The Mic 3 transmitter is roughly half the weight of its predecessor, weighing just 16g (including the magnet). This makes it far more discreet when clipped to light clothing. However, to achieve this "featherlight" form factor, DJI removed the 3.5mm lavalier input. Users now rely entirely on the high-quality built-in omnidirectional microphone, which is optimized with three new Voice Tone Presets (Regular, Rich, and Bright).
Despite its smaller size, the internal capabilities have been upgraded:
32-bit Float Internal Recording: With 32 GB of internal storage (up from 8 GB), the transmitter can record over 40 hours of "unclippable" audio, serving as a standalone recorder or a fail-safe backup.
Timecode Support: For the first time, the transmitter supports high-precision internal timecode, allowing professional videographers to sync audio perfectly with multi-camera setups in post-production.
Adaptive Gain Control: New "Automatic" and "Dynamic" gain modes prevent clipping during sudden loud noises, making it ideal for unpredictable environments like live events.
The Mic 3 utilizes dual-band (2.4GHz and 5.8GHz) technology to extend its stable transmission range to 400 meters. It also supports OsmoAudio, allowing it to connect directly to the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro or Pocket 3 without a receiver.
