Intel Core i5-7640X X-series Kaby Lake Processor
Intel Core i5-7640X X-series Kaby Lake Processor (6 MB Cache, 4.00 GHz Max Turbo Frequency 4.20 GHz). Intel Core are streamlined midrange consumer workstation and enthusiast computers central processing units (CPU) marketed by Intel Corporation. These processors displaced the existing mid- to high-end Pentium processors at the time of their introduction, moving the Pentium to the entry level, and bumping the Celeron series of processors to the low end. Identical or more capable versions of Core processors are also sold as Xeon processors for the server and workstation markets.
The Intel Core i5-7640X X-series Kaby Lake Processor is a high-performance CPU designed to deliver powerful computing capabilities for a wide range of tasks. With its advanced features and efficient performance, this processor is ideal for both gaming enthusiasts and professionals seeking exceptional speed and responsiveness.Featuring four cores and four threads, the i5-7640X offers a balanced combination of multi-threaded performance and single-threaded speed. Each core operates at a base clock speed of 4.00 GHz, which can be dynamically boosted to a maximum turbo frequency of 4.20 GHz when additional power is required. This allows for smooth and seamless multitasking, whether you're gaming, editing videos, or running resource-intensive applications. With a 6 MB cache, the i5-7640X provides fast access to frequently used data, enhancing overall system performance. The cache acts as a temporary storage area for frequently accessed instructions and data, reducing the time needed to fetch information from the main memory. The processor supports up to 64 GB of DDR4-2666 memory across two channels. This high memory capacity and speed enable efficient data processing and smoother multitasking, allowing you to run demanding applications with ease. Whether you're editing large media files or running virtual machines, the i5-7640X can handle it with efficiency and speed.

Intel Core i5-7640X Review:
For many, the Core i5-7640X is a chip to be toyed with out of curiosity but isn’t really a purchasing choice made for an optimised solution. It’s common for PC enthusiasts to own multiple graphics cards during the lifecycle of a custom DIY desktop PC, especially when the central usage focus is gaming. Essentially, a system spec is built as a ‘set and forget’ solution, with the GPU and perhaps storage being revisited as an interim upgrade. This is where Intel’s marketing of the X299 platform as a scalable solution, while a valid point technically, becomes a soft notion in reality. The reason being, upgrading from the Core i5-7640X to even the entry-level Core i9, the i9-7900X, demonstrates a price differential. Frankly, someone looking to spec a CPU is unlikely to consider the CPU upgrade path unless there are extenuating circumstances preceding the purchase of a Core i5-7640X over, for example, the Core i7-7800X.
